  • The LifeStraw can filter up to 1,000 liters (264 gallons). This would mean, if you used the LifeStraw every day, for all of your drinking water, it will last for approximately one year. If you just use it for travel and outdoor activities, it will last much longer than 1 year.
  • What does the LifeStraw filter?
The LifeStraw removes 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria, including E. coli, and 99.9% of waterborne protozoa, including Giardia & Cryptosporidium. LifeStraw also reduces turbidity, filtering down to 0.2 microns.
  • When you use your LifeStraw for the first time, or when the filter is completely dry (after storing, for example), it takes a little longer to prime the filter. We recommend holding your LifeStraw vertically in water, with the water about half way up the filter, for 30 seconds before using. This will help get the membranes moist and make it easier to pull water through. Make sure you keep the mouthpiece dry so it doesn’t become contaminated.
